The commitment
Residency (GME) time does not count toward the scholarship obligation. Military residency adds its own obligation, generally served at the same time. Confirm your total with your recruiter.
Total military service obligation is 8 years; time not on active duty is served in the Individual Ready Reserve.
Specialty, residency selection and assignment are competitive and not guaranteed.
Stipend and bonus are taxable. Qualified tuition and required fees generally are not. Ask a tax professional.
HPSP also reimburses required books and equipment. That benefit isn't counted here, so the real value is a little higher.
